hawkwind2000 @ 06:02 pm: *tap tap* This thing on?
So I've been recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and it comes on top of tendonitis in my dominant arm, progressive weight gain, and growing mobility problems. So I figured, hey. If there's a reason to talk about it, there *must* be an LJ community!

Indeed, here I find... three? poorly_bdsm hasn't updated in 119 weeks; cripswithwhips hasn't updated in 22 weeks, and kqwd hasn't updated in 19.

Does everyone actually have a *gasp* life, or are we all too lame?

Or is there somewhere *else* you're all hiding that I haven't found yet, hmmmm? *peers around half suspiciously, half curiously, half hopefully*

My journal is public, so y'all can go look. Poly, kinky, switch, bi, (tabletop, not computer) gamer, speaker to geeks. I'm weirder than I am queer, but I'm there, too. I recognise some names in the member lists, but only from around LJ... I don't post much because I try not to whine...

(xposted to the above-named communities)

I've definitely had a life lately. I just haven't had any health-and-kink-related issues in a while.

However, I've suddenly had a glut of responses to a personal ad I've had posted for a while, so that could change, once I get over my current bout of bronchitis...

Oooh, where are you posting personals that you got a response to?

Yay for change!

I have not been posting because I have been out having kinky sex! :)

Or, y'know, writing. But also sex.

Hi. :) Poly, kinky, switch, bi, et cetera. Also with tendonitis and fibromyalgia. It's been difficult to figure out what I can do now... flogging people hurts after only a little while.

heh, sometimes it seems I get tendonitis just by blinking.

"...flog people? you want to flog people? well, we're The Universe, and we have other ideas! *zap*"

"...damn."

Can you flog using each arm? I made sure to train my left as well as my right when I first started flogging/caning/etc, so that I could switch arms. I actually managed to wear out my favorite riding crop, so I must have been doing something right...

My tendonitis is worse in my right arm than my left; switching helps for a bit, but the fibro makes it difficult to keep any repetitive motion up for long. (My arms get sore and achy just from sorting the laundry some days. :( ) I really do need to be better about exercising.

When I was first learning I did the same thing -- one of my biggest peeves as a bottom was people whose arm got tired just about the time I was starting to really get into what they were doing. One of my big things is not doing ot others what I complain about happening to me (unless that is what they *really* want!)

Unfortunately the tendonitis is in my elbow in my dominant arm, and my (submissive?) 'off' arm gets both tired-er faster *and* less accurate faster. While this has meant that I move from floggers to canes faster in the sequence of 'what i'm doing to someone else to hurt them deliciously' it also means that at the point of 'too tired' i'm using a tool that is worse if I fuck up. *sigh*

And, dammit, seems to be being the one affected by the muscle spasms that is how my ?whatever the fuck i dont want it to be fibro!? is expressing itself.

...either that or we're too sick to be having sex. But that's a much yuckier way of looking at it.

(Although true on my end temporarily, as primary has the flu.)

I keep meaning to kick-start something about wishing they'd make orthopedically correct or comfy handles for sex toys, though.

And I am also amused that the Liberator ramp-pillow-positioning system is sold in both my kinky sex magazines and my arthritis magazine, although there they use older models and leave off the bondage strap option.

Hey, I was *trying* to be positive! (And silly, which is my usual reaction to 'too much shit to be believed' situations.)

I've seen those in magazines, and yes that is pretty funny.

Oh hey, maybe I'll start that thread... Or do you want to go and do it?
